“Poor Things” by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos has won this year’s Golden Lion, the Venice Film Festival jury said on Saturday evening. “Poor Things” is an experimental take on the Frankenstein story starring US actress Emma Stone, alongside Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo. Lanthimos is already well known for works including “The Favourite,” “The Lobster” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” “Poor Things,” a dark fantasy, follows a woman who is resurrected after killing herself and embarks on an odyssey of self-discovery.
