King Charles left a short-and-sweet handwritten message atop the coffin of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, during her funeral Monday in London. “In loving and devoted memory. Charles R,” the note reads, according to CNN, which reports that the “R” refers to “Rex,” or “king” in Latin. Charles, 73, became king of the United Kingdom following the death of Queen Elizabeth on Sept. 8 at age 96. Her death ended a record-setting 70-year reign that began when she was just 25 years old.
