SAN DIEGO — When Bertha Loaiza drives over the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, she can’t avoid thinking of her past — that fateful day in 1985 when her mother leaped off the bridge cradling 3-year-old Bertha in her arms. Her mother perished; Bertha lived.
