‘Attack’ suspected after shots fired at rabbi’s house in Germany

At least four shots were fired from a live weapon at the door of the former rabbi’s residence next to the Old Synagogue in the western German city of Essen. No one was injured, according to police on Friday. The man who allegedly fired the shots is still being sought. The building that was hit houses an institute for German-Jewish history. It is directly adjacent to the Old Synagogue, which is now used as a cultural centre and no longer as a place of worship.
