Hundreds of people gathered at memorials across the district this weekend to pay tribute to those who died for their country. Armistice Day was marked on Saturday as people paused at 11am to observe a minute of silence. The following day, around 500 people gathered to watch a parade of veterans and serving members of the armed forces in Newark followed by the laying of wreaths at the war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
