Vic Long opened The Ship Inn at Redcliffe Bay in Portishead, Somerset, and 50 years later, he’s still going strong with no plans to retire. Vic might be the longest-serving landlord in Britain, especially of a pub they built themselves. However, he has some way to go to beat the record of Mabel Mudge, who spent 75 years running the Drewe Arms in Drewesteignton on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon.
