By Matt Hladik New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz suffered a serious, season-ending injury in the postgame celebration following Team Puerto Rico’s 5-2 win over the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic on Wednesday. Diaz, who closed out the Puerto Rican victory, tore the patella tendon in his right knee and had to be wheeled off the field in a wheelchair. The 2022 NL All-Star underwent surgery to repair the injury earlier today.
