By Matthew J. Platkin As our state’s chief law enforcement officer, my top priority is public safety. So, it is fair to say that any discussion of a “crime epidemic” gets my attention. But, as they say, facts don’t lie. So, let’s start with some facts: In 2022, the number of shooting victims in New Jersey dropped by 25%. Each of our major cities experienced a double-digit percentage decline. From Jersey City to Camden, our communities were safer last year than the year before. These are not abstract numbers, either.
